Заглавие:  Need some Advice !

Hi, first of all, I am new to this forum and hopefully will stay longer. I am a foreigner but at the moment I am living in Sofia for a few years. I mostly do understand Bulgarian but its very hard for me to write, hope you understand that. Let me come to the point; I am seriously considering to buy a Subaru outback. I found two adds on mobile.bg which is 2002 3.0 209 hp. I used to drive Bmw (320i) Mercedes (C180) and Cheeroke ( 3.1 ) before. I have never used a Subaru nor I had a friend using it. I just need some advice from pro's like you if I am putting myself into a trouble or not. How expensive is the parts or what about the fuel consumption ? Can I easly find parts in Sofia, any good mechanics ( garage ) ??? I would be grateful if someone give me a hand here. Thanks

This is the type of car you would need for the winter :)
There are at lest 5 workshops in Sofia where they know what is Subaru, 2 stores for original parts, expensive though and there is option to order original parts from abroad through sellers from Varna and they come and very reasonable prices. There are plenty of second hand parts too. The main thing with a second hand car is to have a luck and to increase chances - get it checked at a workshop before you buy it.

PS. Lets move to the Foreign section

Разбира, ама най-вероятно говорим, а не писмен. При чужденците от разбира до разбира разликата е сериозна.

As the colleague said before me:
You need to be very careful when choosing the car. Auto traders are known to import cars and polish them to be shiny, but underneath is a nightmare. The MUST is to examine the car in a workshop.
After you by the Scubi is the easier part. We have places in Sofia where they know the vehicle inside-out and fix it quite good.
The fuel consumption can be optimized by installing a LPG, if petrol is too expensive, because the H6 3.0 motor has bigger fuel demand, but it's not anything to worry about. Numbers like 11-14l/100km in the city, depending on you driving style.

And if you happen to buy a good Scubi it'll get you to everywhere :))

Many thanks for the replies and I understand the compliants about bulgarian :) Shame on me couldnt learn it till now  Ok so, as far as I understood from the answers; you tell me to go for it. I know one mechanic here but he isn't a Subaru specialist, If you give me some garage addresses or telephone numbers, I may ask them to come with me to see the car before I buy it. i merci Greg4o, ako shte ima pokana, az iskam da doida...

This service is a very good one: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7996
Good luck with the purchase and I cross my fingers to have luck and get one Great Subie.
You'll see it's not just a car. Get it and wait for the snow ;-)
If we meet you'r always welcome, even without a Subie :)
You can check here for the Sofia meetings: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1382&start=1420

Here are my 2 cents - if you got a chance to travel in Europe - Germany, Switzerland, better look for a car over the net that is sold by a private person or at least has TUV or MFK an and fetch it yourself. It will cost you more - say 1k euro, but it will pay off. Just as a start check prices in Europe and compare to the local ads - one does not need to be rocket scientist to understand why imports are cheaper here...

PS: good luck with the purchase. Written Bulgarian you will learn over time - we'll help once you join.

Here is a priority list from me, I hope it helps:
Safest and most expensive option: New car from Subaru Bulgaria
Safe and not so expensive - used car from a subaruclubbg.com member
Also a safe and not so expensive option: Used car from Subaru Bulgaria
Potentially unsafe and with nice "value for money" ratio: New car from some dealer (make sure the car is technically and legally OK, use legal and technical advice BEFORE you buy, check if warranty is valid with Subaru Bulgaria)
Used car from some dealer - forget it.

Other than that, the Outback better than the Mercedes and the BMW. I would not comapre it with the Jeep - they hve absolutely no common ground.

Thanks for the advices and for sure once I have enough time will start learning verbal and written Bulgarian. I do understand the most of it but when it comes to speaking and writing I do suck :b

One click away from you, here. This is "for sale" section of the forum. Most of the topics are about autoparts, but there are quite a few cars for sale as well. It will be easier for you if you have a friend helping you with the lanugage for this, while you are looking through the topics.
